A terrace of three prototype carbon-neutral houses in Bordon, Hampshire. Each of the homes features a highly insulated core containing the living areas, with an uninsulated entrance porch extending into the front garden. The houses achieved Code for Sustainable Homes level 5, through the high standard of insulation, efficient boilers, controlled mechanical ventilation and roof-mounted photovoltaics (PV). The former firemen’s training tower was refurbished and used as a support for 60 additional photovoltaic panels, providing additional power to the project and making a striking landmark.
